On October 18, 2025, Saturday, the first of the "Historical Peninsula Tours" series was organized under the guidance of Dr. Instructor Member İbrahim Vehbi Baysan, a faculty member from our University's Department of History, aiming to provide our university staff with an opportunity to connect with historical values and strengthen interaction among employees.
The tour began with a breakfast event at the Salis Madrasa of the Süleymaniye Complex. Participants gathered here, enjoying a pleasant start to the day. After breakfast, Dr. Baysan provided a detailed explanation of the history of the Salis Medrese, and participants gained a wealth of new knowledge about the medrese’s past.
Following the visit to the Süleymaniye Mosque and DarulHadis, Dr. Baysan offered an in-depth introduction to these historical structures, sharing information about the mosque's architecture and cultural significance. Afterward, the Süleymaniye Manuscript Library was explored, allowing participants to get a closer look at rare works and delve deeper into history.
In the final part of the tour, a pleasant walk took place around the Vefa neighborhood, where participants experienced the historic atmosphere of the area, journeying back in time, while also having the opportunity to visit the ongoing construction site of our university's Darüşşifa campus. This walk provided a unique experience, blending history with the future.
The first of the Historical Peninsula Tours offered our university staff both a historical discovery and a social experience, making for an unforgettable day. Participants not only established strong relationships with each other but also created lasting memories while connecting with the past.
