The second event in the “Historical Peninsula Tours” series, organized by our Administrative Staff Club, took place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, with the participation of our academic and administrative staff. On this special route themed “A Historical Walk in the Shadow of the Walls: From Mihrimah Sultan to Anemas,” our staff had the opportunity to observe Istanbul’s unique history firsthand.
The event began with a pleasant breakfast held in the historic atmosphere of the Salis Madrasa at the Institute of the Alliance of Civilizations (MEDİT). Following this gathering where our staff socialized, the group proceeded to Edirnekapı for the tour route.
Under the valuable guidance of Dr. İbrahim Vehbi Baysan, an Assistant Professor in our University’s History Department, the walk began at the Edirnekapı Mihrimah Sultan Mosque and continued along the walls. On the route, which led from Kariye Mosque to the Anemas Dungeons, Dr. Baysan’s narration, enriched with his academic depth, offered our participants a unique perspective.
At the end of the tour, our team was treated to a kind surprise by Dr. İbrahim Vehbi Baysan and hosted at the Kemal Efendi Foundation, where we relaxed and unwound from the day’s activities over some delicious sweets.
As the Administrative Staff Club, we would like to thank our esteemed professor for guiding us on this meaningful tour, as well as all our colleagues who participated.
